For all those Thanksgiving fans out there, the Pieterskerk in Leiden will host a non-denominational service on Thursday the 24th at 11:00. Everyone is welcome.
The Pieterskerk is a historically special place to celebrate Thanksgiving. Because they lived near the church from 1609 to 1620, the Pilgrims recorded milestones in their lives in the church, like births, marriages and deaths.
Two U.S. Presidents can also trace their ancestry to the Pilgrims. The Bush family claims Francis Cooke, who signed the Mayflower Compact and was a Leiden pilgrim. President Obama also has ancestors in Leiden. If you visit the Pieterskerk, you can read all about it.
The Mayor of Leiden will be present, and the Choir and Band of the American School will also be there to perform.
