If you're into looking at the big picture; as in looking at the whole world and what is possible and what is to come in the future, Manuel Castells is a name you will surely run into. The award winning sociologist has written books that are some of the fundamental guides for anyone looking at the function of the internet and the future of how we regular people communicate and relate to each other. This Friday night, he's the star of a "reading" in Amsterdam.
The evening's program also includes a documentary film entitled "Another Life is Possible -Homage to Catalonia II" which deals with people in Spain are finding solutions and alternatives during the current crisis. Castells was involved with the production of the film, and will be part of the discussion that follows.
It will be a big night for both professional and arm-chair academics, at it all starts at 7pm with the viewing of the film. Entrance costs €13,50 and it takes place at Felix Meritis. Apparently the reading itself is already sold out, but as Castells would say - surely another way is possible.
