Tomorrow is bound to be one of those great days just made for wandering around the city and taking in all that Utrecht has to offer. It may be Sunday, but it's koopzondag, so lots of shops will be open for a change. On top of that, there's a variety of events going on, so you can tour the city and stop in at different sites to take in some culture along the way.
First off, beginning October 2, the Centrale Bibliotheek (Central Library) on the Oudegracht will be open every Sunday from 13:00-17:00. When the weather eventually changes, the library can be a nice place to spend a cozy Sunday afternoon.
This Sunday is also Cultural Sunday. This month's programming focuses on the organ and all it's uses over the years, with the title Voor de Wind. At various spots around the city, you can hear music, watch theater performances, dance and more, all set to the varying sounds of the organ. Voor de Wind is also the opening day of Connecting Arts, The European Organ Festival, which will be taking place in Utrecht October 2-8. The full schedule of events can be found at the Cultural Sunday website.
Finally, the Utrecht Archives (Utrechts Archief, Hamburgerstraat 28) will be open Sunday, with special animal-themed exhibits and activities. Beginning at 13:00 and going until 17:00, the exhibit highlighting animals in the city will be open, along with activities to make paper animals, and even go on a search to find certain animals represented throughout the city. At 13:30, the city's youth choir will be performing on the square outside the archives.
