In what is definitely one of the highlights of the theatric calendar of 2011, this month FELA the 3-time Tony Award winning musical about the music and life of Fela Kuti, comes to Amsterdam. One of the most celebrated names in world music, the late Fela Kuti is an inspiration to musicians around the world. The musical has drawn rave reviews on Broadway, London, and will now be featured at Carré (also known as Royal Theater Carré).

Performances start June 9th and continue til the 24th. Ticket prices range from €25 to €65 which anyone familiar with admission prices back in NYC will recognize as a good deal. The trick will be to actually find tickets as even as I type these words, they are selling out. Showtimes include some matinees as well as evening performances, depending on the day.
