We Beat The Mountain Day

Friday, May 20, is the first edition of what will be an annual festival that calls attention to global trash heaps and the value that can be gained from items that would otherwise be dumped there. Beginning at 9 a.m., the Domplein will be filled with artists, speakers, workshops and markets, raising awareness about the importance of recycling and not just dumping. Several artists will be working throughout the day on a large sculpture (perhaps reaching as high as ten meters) made of trash. There will also be markets set up, both with designers selling clothing and other items made from 100% recycled materials, as well as an actual clothes swap organized by Little Green Dress. From 2-7 p.m., bring your clothes, shoes, and bags (men, women and children items are all welcome) and hang them out on the clothesline to be swapped for another item.

A full listing of the events can be found at the official website.
