It's that time of year again. The weekly skate parade is starting back up again tonight as skaters of all ages hit the streets of Utrecht for a two-hour party on wheels. Every Friday evening, starting by the Stadsschouwburg on Lucasbolwerk, 200 to 500 skaters set off at 8 p.m. for an organized and protected route. A lead truck with music and/or a DJ keep the energy up. At the end of the skate, there are numerous cafés and restaurants along Lucasbolwerk and Lange Jufferstraat for skaters to relax and continue the comradery. The terraces of Café de Potdeksel and Café de Stad are two of the most popular spots to grab some refreshment afterward. If you can't make it to the Skate Parade tonight, you've got the whole summer to get your wheels ready.
