Over the past week, if you've spent any time in the city center of Utrecht, you've probably seen a lot of construction going on, from big creations in Neude to smaller structures at Zocher Park over by the Stadsschouwburg. It's all to do with the city's annual cultural Festival a/d Werf.
Take it personal! That's the theme of this year's edition of the festival, a 10-day cultural extravaganza taking place throughout Utrecht. From May 19-28, there will be installations, music concerts, and dance and theater performances. Much of the work is experimental and sometimes interactive, challenging viewers to question their personal perspectives. Much of the programming this year will deal with social and political issues ranging from migration and war to conflicts between generations. Performances are by both Dutch and international artists.
The festival's website has a full listing of events, schedules and ticket prices. It's worth spending a bit of time on the site to plan out your own must-see events for the next 10 days.
