I was living in NYC the first time I heard about the Rocky Horror-style showings of The Sound of Music, in which the audience gets to sing along with the famous film. The tradition is still going strong and is hitting theaters here in the Netherlands. Tomorrow, 30 March, at the Pathé Rembrandt in Utrecht, the theater will be overtaken by fans of the film dressed in their best nun and captain costumes or dirndl skirts and lederhosen. In fact, costumes are encouraged, as there will be a costume parade before the show with the winner taking home a prize. Each attendee will also receive a Sing-Along Sound of Music fun pack with accoutrements to add to the experience. And, of course, there will be singing along with classics like Do-Re-Mi and Climb Every Mountain.
