I spent some time in Amsterdam last week. The sun was shining and it was unseasonably warm for March. I wanted to try one of the delicious vegetarian restaurants I've heard so much about. We strolled down the Prinsengracht until we came to Bolhoed (address: Prinsengracht 60-62).
I brought my non-vegetarian parents along, and they were slightly skeptical of what this place could offer them. But none of us was disappointed. We sampled the soup of the day (vegetable and lentil), salads and the mozzarella, pesto and tomato sandwich. Delicious!
Even after stuffing ourselves with all this amazing food we couldn't stop. So we visited the desert section, and split a piece of chocolate cake (vegan) and banana cream pie (not vegan) along with some delicious organic tea.
It's a shame I live so far from Bolhoed, because if I still called Amsterdam home I'd be here every week. Check it out - they may just convince you that meat isn't necessary. ![]()
