A friend recently insisted that I join him for a drink at the Whiskeycafé L&B near Leidseplein. What I didn't realize at the time is that what really happened was that: a hardcore whiskey aficionado was about to take me on a dizzying journey of whiskey tasting in an establishment with a mind blowing selection of the finest Whiskey's from around the world.

The idea didn't surprise me, I realize Whiskey is important to many. But when I stepped into the jam-packed Whiskeycafé, I realized this was no ordinary watering hole. This place is very much into the science and worship of one very special spirit. What I imagined would be just a quick drink who some average tasting whiskey, turned into a long and educational night of sampling Whiskey with flavors I never knew existed.

One additional charm of this very loved bar is that say you can't afford the fancy whiskeys from Japan or who knows what island off the coast of Scotland; there are still plenty of affordable whiskeys for those of us with a limited drink budget.
