Whether it's Oscar nominations or Golden Globes, the start of a new year means plenty of "best of" lists being made for the previous one. This week the NLStreets Award came out with their own reknowned list for "Best Shopping Street in the Netherlands 2010." The winner, the lesser known Kleine Kerkstraat in Leeuwarden where I happened to be for a day trip last month.

Also announced was best shop of 2010, another winner from the north, Delicatessen Ariola which is located on the Folkingestraat, up in Groningen.

Some might expect winners to be from more famous cities like Amsterdam or Rotterdam, both cites had candidates that earned some votes, but came up short against this years winners.
