The 40th edition of the International Film Festival Rotterdam has begun, which means it is time to get over to that fine city for some great films that you wouldn't normally have a chance to see.
Other then the IDFA which takes place each year in Amsterdam, the IFFR is the biggest and best film fest in the country. Unlike IDFA there are not only documentaries but also regular films by large and small producers.
I'm yet to read and watch all the previews but as the festival kicked off today, I thought to mention some of the IFFR's more innovative features this year, especially for those who are perhaps not in Rotterdam yet.
First there is the film on demand option, to choice to watch some documentaries online for a small price. Myself I'd prefer to see them on the big screen, but if your screen at home is big enough and you don't mind spending 5 €, now you can participate in the festival without going to the festival.
Secondly there are the Film Fest bloggers who are already writing about the different films that are showing and delving into the background info to enhance the film going experience.
Of course you also have all the social media your heart could desire in addition to the festival iphone app which I am testing this evening. More on that soon, time to plan what films to see.
