If you happened to see the indie film Eagle vs Shark, starring Jemaine Clement from Flight of the Conchords, then you've heard some of the music by The Phoenix Foundation. A great band from New Zealand, they manage to combine various musical sounds and styles -- alt country, psychedelic, pop -- into their own unique sound. Beginning today, their fourth studio album, Buffalo, is available in Europe, and they've also winged their way over here to begin a European tour, one of their first bigger tours of Europe. In fact, they're kicking off the tour in Amsterdam at Paradiso this Thursday, 27, January. Since they don't make it up here to the northern hemisphere all that often, I definitely recommend checking them out while you have the chance! I had to fly to New York to see them 4.5 years ago, so I'm definitely taking advantage of a short train ride to see them this time! Either way, the show they put on is worth it.
They're playing the small hall at Paradiso in Amsterdam, and tickets are only €8.50. Doors open at 21:30 and the show starts at 22:00. Tickets are available through the Paradiso website.
