Starting Wednesday, Utrecht will be experimenting with Greencabs, vehicles run solely on electricity. These taxis will be found around the city center, in all the usual taxi stops and at the normal rates. The Greencab experiment will run through the end of 2012, and according to the press release, "The purpose of the experiment is to gain more insight into what it takes for hybrid and electric cars to succeed." They hope that the CO2-free vehicles will raise awareness in both passengers and the general public about electric vehicles, while helping to improve the air quality of the city center.
