In just a few weeks, on the 3rd of February, the Nationale Strippenkaart (strip card) will be abolished in the Province of South Holland (Zuid-Holland). The days of paying for your tram or bus ride with that handy strippenkaart will be a thing of the past.
From February, if you want to travel by bus, tram or metro in The Hague, Leiden, Gouda, and beyond, you'll need to purchase and use an OV-chipkaart. Just like the strippenkaart, OV-chipkaart can be purchased at cigarette shops but also at all train stations. Though it's not quite as fun as stamping the strippenkaart, the OV-chipkaart is pretty handy. Just keep your credit topped up and it's as simply as checking in and out of your chosen form of transportation.
Hurry and use up those strippenkaarts! Just a couple weeks left.
