There are events I write about or recommend on this blog that are often quite well publicized throughout the country and the world via internet. Still I try to point out some unique detail that appeals to me and might perhaps appeal to some of you.
But then there are the events that you can find hardly a word about anywhere, yet they're fun or interesting in some way, if only the information was available to us.
I've heard whispers of a Reggae festival this weekend in the highly un-touristic neighborhood in Amsterdam-West known as De Baarsjes. The party, which takes place this Saturday the 24th of October, is an initiative to bring different groups of people together to have a good time and socialize with some good music. While it might sound very neighborhood-y, keep in mind anyone is welcome, and it would be a far different and perhaps more interesting party from what you normally find in the center of Amsterdam.
It is scheduled to start at 12 noon and carry on well into the night (8pm). The hard part is finding the party, which takes place at Meneer de Witte center for culture and art. Here's a good map of how to find it in relation to the rest of the city.
