This weekend, across the Netherlands, Popronde will be taking place in more than 20 cities, featuring up-and-coming new Dutch musicians. The festival has been taking place in some form or another since its start in Nijmegen in 1994, and has remained largely unchanged, focusing on talented young artists in a variety of music genres.
In Utrecht, the events are taking place Friday, October 9. The official start to the event is at 8 p.m. at EKKO, but there is a preview performance by Fabiana Dammers at Plato (Voorstraat 35) at 4 p.m. The festival takes place not only in multiple cities, but in multiple locations throughout each city. In Utrecht, some of the locations include Café de Potdeksel, Café de Stad, de Bastaard, U Rock!, and Witte Ballons, among others. The full Utrecht listing of performers, locations, times and music styles can be found here. You can also listen to songs by the various performers on the site.
The events are free and the full listing of cities, times and locations can be found at the official website, so check it out, wherever you are, and find some great new music this weekend.
