Nederlands Film Festival
3940970190_99e1c9060d.jpg It's time for the annual Nederlands Film Festival, held ever year here in Utrecht. The 10-day festival exhibits all of the Dutch-made film productions of the previous year. At the end of the 10 days, the Golden Calf award is given to the best films, directors and actors.3940190527_2576ddbd07.jpg

Along with showing the various Dutch films -- full length, short films, documentaries, etc. -- a variety of meetings and lectures are given throughout the festival. The main theme of the festival this year is The Dutch Angle, spotlighting films by some of the Dutch auteurs who have received recognition internationally but who are still somewhat unknown domestically.

The festival runs from September 23 through October 2, with events held throughout the city, including the festival pavilion set up at the Neude Square, the Stadsschouwburg, and the Grant Hotel Karel V, as well as various film theaters throughout the city. Full information about the events and schedule can be found through the official website (in English and Dutch).2911308749_10e7773870.jpg
