On Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13, 2009, the annual Open Monumentendagen again comes to Leiden. This experience allows visitors to explore more than 30 buildings in Leiden that are usually not open to the public. Within these buildings visitors can view various card collections.

The Town Hall in Leiden also holds activities, particularly for children. To add to the fun, Leiden is car-free on Sunday, September 13. If you want to plan ahead for this event, you can pick up a free program guide at the following locations in Leiden:
