Picnic 08 just kicked off over in Westerpark. Picnic being the international web 2.0 sort of techy conference where lots of people show up to discuss what is going on and maybe launch some new projects. Also Richard Branson shows up and gives a cash prize for the best "green" invention people come up with.
I've been to Picnic last year and quickly learned that it is an event for people who can afford the zillion euro entry fee OR who's company picks up the bill. At the same time some events at Picnic are free, and I've always taken advantage of those gratis activities. Plus its in Westerpark, they can't stop you from walking around and just saying hello and chatting with conference participants outside the buildings... so maybe you will get to talk to Sir Richard.. a chance to present your bicycle powered coffee machine perhaps?
If you're interested in attending some of the events, or the free stuff, you'll have to click around the very detailed website. Myself I'm still having trouble figuring out what event I can attend with the pocket full of coins that I've got. Nevertheless, if you're into developments on the internets and communication, Picnic will be of interest to you and there should be a way to get you in. The event goes from now until Saturday the 26th in various buildings of Westerpark.
Good luck!
